🕉According to the ancient yoga and Ayurvedic teachings, there are 5 elements — earth, fire, air, water, space — that are present in everything around you AND in you. Understanding them can help live a more balanced life.
⛰The earth element is associated with the first chakra, Muladhara or root chakra, and is located at the base of your spine. This element and chakra are associated with security, safety and stability. When the earth element is balanced, you feel confident, grounded, safe, resilient, and strong. •
There are many ways to ground yourself. Whenever you’ve been moving around a lot or you simply feel like a leaf thrown around by the chaotic wind... 🍂🌪play with these:
❇️ Slow down your breath. Count the length of your inhales and exhales — and try to keep them even (for example: 5 seconds for one inhale, 5 seconds for one exhale). Hold your breath for a few seconds after each inhale. Repeat for a few minutes, until you feel the difference.
❇️ Pay attention to your feet. 👣Whether standing or sitting, make sure they are teaching the ground evenly, and that the weight is evenly distributed between toes and heels. Imagine anchoring and rooting through your feet, like a tree. 🌳⚓️
❇️ Drop into Malasana (in the picture — also known as Garland pose or Yogic Squat) which is one of the most effective grounding poses in yoga. On top of that, it stretches your lower back, hips and legs — and improves digestion. 🐒
Now I wanna hear from you: what are your go-to grounding techniques? Share your secret and let’s learn from each other. 🙌🏿🙌🏾🙌🏽🙌🏼 Kat xo
