Luke 6:45 New Living Translation (NLT)
45 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.
This one is going to be a little different:
So yesterday at church, I was speaking to one of the members about a friend of hers that I saw a few times recently. It was genuinely out of concern. When our conversation ended she said, “I love that your heart is so big.” It kind of made me think. I didn’t think I was doing anything grandiose, but what I did spoke volumes about me apparently.
Maybe it’s just me but when a series of bad things happen in my life, I internalize and convince myself that I’m not a good person because you reap what you sow, and apparently I’ve sown bad seeds. It’s all about how you look at it.
For a very long time I was in a very broken place. As a matter of fact, the majority of my life even after I accepted Christ, I struggled with depression because of things that I had been through. The Bible says life and death lie in the power of the tongue. Everything that was going out of my mouth was dead. What is your language like?
Sometimes life will make your heart sick. Thank God, we have people gifted and anointed to help you heal from that. It’s okay to go get help. It’s okay for someone to help nurse you back to health.
Nothing you do will prosper the way it’s supposed to if you don’t deal with your heart. If you’re putting all of your heart into a business, and you have a bad heart, what do you think is going to happen? Stop jumping into things with a bad heart. Do the inside work before you do the outward work.
I love the Message bible version of this verse btw:
43-45 “You don’t get wormy apples off a healthy tree, nor good apples off a diseased tree. The health of the apple tells the health of the tree. You must begin with your own life-giving lives. It’s who you are, not what you say and do, that counts. Your true being brims over into true words and deeds.
